ArtesMiami & U.S. Century Bank will honor Mitchell Kaplan

On October 14th, 2016, Mitchell Kaplan will receive the ArtesMiami Lydia Cabrera Award, at a luncheon presented by U.S. Century Bank, one of the top 10 Hispanic-owned community banks in the U.S. Kaplan founded Books & Books in Coral Gables in 1982, a locally owned, independent bookstore that presents hundreds of authors in South Florida. He is also the co-founder of theMiami Book Fair International. The award honors an individual who has contributed significantly to the cultural development of South Florida. This is the first time that the prestigious award is presented to a non-Hispanic. The winner will receive $1000 in cash and a ceramics work of art by artist Rodrigo de la Luz. PR Newswire will join ArtesMiami in contributing the distribution of news releases.

As in past years, the luncheon will attract more than 120 local business, media, government and cultural leaders to Fleming's Restaurant. The cost is $125 per person and $95 for Benefactors (contributors of $100 or more). ArtesMiami is a 501(c)3 organization and contributions are tax deductible.
